Baptism Preparation

"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word." Catechism of the Catholic Church 1213

For infants and children under six years of age, a registration form must be completed and submitted along with the child's original birth certificate to the Parish Office by the parent(s) of the child.  A letter of permission is required from the baptizing family's home parish if they do not live within the parish boundries.  Copies of the Godparents sacramental certificates are also required.. All forms and fees must be submitted to the parish office at least one month prior to the baptism date along with the $50 fee to cover the cost of the class of preparation.

Parents and Godparents must prepare for the baptism of the child by attending one class of preperation.  Both parents and godparents must attend this class prior to baptism. Classes are held on the last Tuesday of once a month at 7:00 pm in the Religious Education Office.  There is a $25 per person fee if attending the class only and baptizing elsewhere. See list of dates.

Both godparents must be practicing Catholics having been fully initiated into the Catholic faith through the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.  Non-Catholics may only be witnesses to baptism, but at least one fully initiated Catholic is required as a Godparent for baptism.

Baptisms take place the second Saturday of every month at 10:00 am in English and at 12:00 noon in Spanish. Private baptisms are not available.

Families with children who are not baptized and are 6 years of age or older may enroll in the Elementary Religious Education Program.  Religious Education Information
