Filipino Group
The main objectives of the Filipino Group
are to promote Filipino faith traditions and to support St. Stephen Parish. The activities of the group foster a spirit of fellowship and spiritual development among its members.
The Group involvements include:
- Participation in the celebration of Simbang Gabi (the Filipino Advent Mass)at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels; celebration of Simbang Gabi at St. Stephen Church with an invitation to the whole parish community , with a Holy Mass followed by a reception at the parish hall.
- Participation in various parish ministries as Choir members, Eucharistic ministers, lector/commentator, ministers to the sick/homebound, altar servers, Legion of Mary members.
- Participation in the St. Stephen Parish annual festival with its Filipino Food Booth.
- Celebration of the feast days of the Filipino saints, St. Lorenzo Ruiz and St. Pedro Calungsod with a Holy Mass followed by a potluck dinner.
- Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, prayers to the Divine Mercy and Holy Mass every Wednesday evening.
- Solicitation of donations and fundraising events to raise funds for Simbang Gabi and parish projects such as the Tree of Life capital campaign, Sunday Coffee & Donut, Gathering Place, Dining with the Saints, technology projects, Filipino food booth at the parish annual festival.
- Participation in special parish events e.g. Pentecost Day parish potluck, celebration or farewell receptions.
